It's the last summer of Collie's innocence.

 

When Collie falls for Dugan from the lower class village of Ganty, she sets herself up for ridicule and heartbreak. 

 

A story of dramatic love and equally dramatic loss as seen through the eyes of two innocent, but defiant adolescents, and through its simple medieval setting it brings to light many of the societal issues of today, including domestic violence, child abuse, bigotry, class segregation, and religious intolerance.

 

The  first of two novels which follow Collie's quest for love.
